What is the United Reformed Church?

The United Reformed Church stands in the mainstream of Christian tradition, believing in God revealed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit. We are the inheritors of a religious tradition of freedom and tolerance represented in the past by Congregationalists, Presbyterians and the Churches of Christ. Today the United Reformed Church has congregations throughout England, Scotland and Wales. Internationally, we have a strong relationship with partner churches through the Council for World Mission and enjoy good relationship with many other partner churches such as the United Church of Christ in the USA and the Uniting Church of Australia.

Early days in Salisbury

The first Independent or Congregational cause in Salisbury was formed in 1662 and over the centuries Congregational and Presbyterian churches met at different sites around the city. The present church buildings were erected in Fisherton Street in 1872.

Renewal

The whole site was redeveloped in 1978, the the sanctuary moving upstairs and a new hall and meeting rooms created downstairs.
